Horse threw a shoe how can I grow back hoof?

I went out last night to feed him and noticed he was limping I looked closer and saw that the shoe had come off. I used a shoe with clips and when the clip came undone it must have torn off a piece of his hoof because now there's like a half inch to an inch missing from the outside part of the hoof. My horse already was needing to grow out hoof and I had been feeding him gelatin because my farrier had recommended it. I had the farrier come out today and he took the rest of the shoes of because he said there was nothing to nail to on the bare hoof. So my question is Is there anything I can feed him or do to make his hoof grow faster? Also he has a sole bruise and my farrier said to watch it because it could become an abscess is there anything I can do to prevent this? Thanks
