Is there a risk of lead poisoning when working with Terra Cotta clay?

A friend gave me a package of terra cotta clay a few years ago... it's really old, but still pliable. All the labeling on the package is in Spanish & have no idea what it says. Is there a risk of lead poisoning if I were to use it? I'm not using it for eating/drinking purposes, but I was still kind of worried.
