Can you drive screws through a gypcrete floor?

Yes you can drive screws though a gypcrete floor. The gypcrete layer is the sound barrier. I imagine it is old or was installed poorly. There could have been some ground shift or a water leak, and the gypcrete has now cracked. There is not much anyone can do other than replacing the gypcrete and sub floor, it would be very, very expensive.
