URGENT* Several questions on business aspect of my school + school district consolidation /sorry if wrong area
The high school I go to is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and is legally a private institution. However, it takes in kids from surrounding towns almost like a public school (it has a contract with the state and is paid by the towns). It claims to lose over 1k on each regular non-paying day student (boarding kids pay near 33k tuition, though). I've done the math, and I don't believe this to be true. Is there a way to verify this (are these contracts made public)? Maine is going through a big consolidation debate - 290 districts may become 26. If this goes through, the student population will most likely skyrocket. There is also speculation relating to the state cancelling my school's contract next year. I moved for this school rather than pay tuition. Does this situation sound as if it will affect me, being a regular day student? Most likely people who could not have before will be able to choose my school over other public schools in the area. If the school pop. maxes, will I be screwed?
